How It Works

How a Legal Smriti course works

Enrol once, then work through your course one day at a time: the day's lesson, a live class or its replay, an assignment and feedback from a reviewer.

Day 18 of 90 in the Legal Smriti app: today's focus "Bail & Anticipatory Bail", a live class marked LIVE NOW with a Join live class button, and an assignment that opens after the class or replay.
Sample day: the lesson, the live class and the assignment.

Step by step

From enrolment to a completed day

You enrol once. After that, each day follows the same steps, from the lesson to your reviewer's feedback.

  1. Once

Step 1: Enrol in a course

Create a free account in the Android app or on the website and choose your course. Access to a paid course begins once your payment is confirmed; Drafting Assistance is free.

  2. Then, every day

Step 2: Follow the day's plan

A new day opens each calendar day from your start date, beginning with the day's lesson. Open days stay open, so you can go at your own pace.

  3. Step 3: Attend the live class, or watch the replay

The live class runs at a fixed time set by the course team, and you can join while it is live. If you miss it, you can watch the replay up to 3 times.

  4. Step 4: Write the day's assignment

The assignment opens once you have attended the class or started its replay, or straight away on a day without a live class. Every question needs an answer.

  5. Step 5: Submit it once

Check your answers, then submit. A submitted assignment can't be edited; it moves to Submitted, then Under review.

  6. Step 6: Read your reviewer's feedback

A reviewer publishes your marks, a summary and suggestions on what to improve, and you're notified when your feedback is ready.

  7. Step 7: Complete the day

Tap “Complete Day” to acknowledge the feedback. That completes the day, and your progress and learning streak update.

Day 18 complete in the Legal Smriti app: class attendance recorded, the assignment marked Completed, and a View feedback button for the reviewer's feedback.
Sample: Day 18 complete, with attendance recorded and the feedback ready to view.

How days open

Days open by the calendar, not by completion

Your course runs on your own calendar from the day your access begins. A new day opens each day without waiting for the previous one, and open days stay open.

  1. Day 1

Opened 3 days ago, on your start date

    Completed
  2. Day 2

    Opened 2 days ago

    Under review
  3. Day 3

    Opened yesterday

    Available
  4. Day 4

    Opened today

    Today
  5. Day 5

    Opens tomorrow

    Upcoming
Sample A course on its fourth day. Day 3 isn't finished, yet Day 4 opened on time, and Day 5 opens tomorrow.
  • Your own start date

Day 1 opens on the day your access begins: when your payment is confirmed for a paid course, or when you add a free course. Days follow the calendar in India time.

  • Open days stay open

A day that has opened stays open, so you can catch up when you can. If you fall behind, Home points you to the earliest step you haven't finished.

  • Live classes keep their time

Live classes run at fixed times, the same for everyone. If you start after a day's class has taken place, you watch it as a replay.

  • Feedback completes the day

A day counts as complete when you acknowledge its feedback. That updates your progress; the next day still opens by the calendar.

Live classes and replays

If you miss a live class

Each live class runs at a fixed time set by the course team, and you can join only while it is live. If you miss one, its replay opens for you.

  • Watch the replay of a missed class up to 3 times, at any time afterwards. Replays have no expiry date.
  • The app shows how many replays remain before you start one. A replay counts when it starts, and trying again after a failed start doesn't use another.
  • Starting a replay opens the day's assignment. When your last replay ends, the day moves on to the assignment, and the day itself stays open.
  • Replays play only in the app or on the website and can't be downloaded.
  • Attended the class live? Your attendance is recorded. Replays are only for classes you missed.

Sample: Day 18 after a missed class, with 2 of 3 replays remaining.

Notifications

Know what needs you next

The app's notification inbox tells you when something is waiting for you. In your notification settings, you choose which kinds you receive.

  • Class reminders

“Upcoming live class”, 30 minutes before a live class starts.

  • Feedback ready

“Feedback is ready”, when your reviewer publishes the review.

  • Next day ready

“Your next lesson is ready”, when a new day opens.

  • Payment updates

“Payment confirmed”, when your course is unlocked.

After the last day

Completing your course

When you complete every day of a course, your completion certificate is printed and posted to the address in your profile.

  1. Step 1: In progress

While you work through the course. Your Profile shows the certificate's status.

  2. Step 2: Being prepared

Once you complete every day, your certificate is prepared for posting.

  3. Step 3: Dispatched

Posted to the address in your profile, with the dispatch date and a tracking reference.

You can change your address until your certificate is dispatched. Study material is posted to the same address, and your Profile shows when it has been dispatched.

Drafting Assistance has no fixed number of days, so it doesn't end with a completion certificate.

More than one course

Several courses on one account

Add another course to the same account when you are ready, and keep each one moving at its own pace.

  • Each course keeps its own days, start date and progress.
  • Switch between your courses from Home or the Course tab.
  • Access to a paid course you add begins once its payment is confirmed.
  • Your courses and progress are the same in the Android app and on the website.

Questions

Questions about how it works

Do I have to finish a day before the next one opens?

No. A new day opens each calendar day from your start date, whether or not you have finished the previous day. Open days stay open, so you can catch up at your own pace.

What if I miss a live class?

Watch its replay, up to 3 times, whenever suits you. The app shows how many replays remain before you start one. Replays play only in the app or on the website and can't be downloaded.

Can I change my assignment after I submit it?

No. A submitted assignment can't be edited, so review your answers before you submit. Your reviewer will share marks and suggestions once the review is ready.

Can I use the app and the website with the same account?

Yes. The Android app and the website use the same account, so your courses and progress are the same in both.
