General information

What Legal Smriti is, who it is for and how to reach us.

Who is Legal Smriti for?

Law students, advocates and aspirants preparing for a law entrance examination. When you register you choose one of three categories: Student, Advocate or Aspirant. Your category doesn’t limit your choice: every learner can take any course, at the same fee.

Is registration free?

Yes. Registration is free: you pay only for a paid course, and access to it begins once your payment is confirmed. Each paid course has a one-time fee, shown on its course page, and Drafting Assistance is free for every registered learner.

Is there an age limit?

You can register if you are between 16 and 100 years old.

What do I need to register?

Your name, age, gender, mobile number and email address, a password, a few details for your category (your college, your Bar Association or your education level), the course you want to start with, and your postal address, where your study material and certificate are posted.

Where can I find official exam notifications?

From the body that conducts each examination. Our Resources page links to their official websites; Legal Smriti is not affiliated with them. Always rely on the official notification.

How can I contact Legal Smriti?

Call +91 96660 05045, message us on WhatsApp (opens in a new tab) or email legalsmriti1@gmail.com. The office is open every day, 9:00 am – 10:00 pm. Everything is also on the Contact page.

Courses and enrolment

Choosing and enrolling in a course, and how its days open.

Which courses can I take?

Any of these, whatever your category:

Each course page shows its length, what is included and its fee.

How do I enrol?

Create a free account in the Legal Smriti Android app or on the website, and choose the course you want to start with. The app and the website use the same account, so your courses and progress are shared. Every course page shows both ways to enrol.

When does my course start, and how do its days open?

Your course starts on the day your access begins: the day your payment is confirmed, or the day you add Drafting Assistance. Day 1 opens that day, and one new day opens each calendar day after that (India time), on your own schedule. Days don’t wait for you to finish the previous day, and open days stay open, so you can catch up whenever you need to.

What does each course day include?
  1. Read the day’s lesson.
  2. Join the live class while it is live, or watch the replay if you missed it.
  3. Answer the day’s assignment and submit it.
  4. Read your reviewer’s marks, summary and suggestions.
  5. Tap “Complete Day” to acknowledge the feedback. That completes the day.
Can I take more than one course?

Yes. You choose one course when you register and can add more later, up to five courses you haven’t completed at a time. A paid course you add opens once its payment is confirmed, and you switch between your courses from Home.

How long can I use a course?

Days that have opened stay open, so if you fall behind you can catch up at your own pace. If you have a question about how long you can use a course, please contact us.

Are courses online or in person?

Legal Smriti courses run online: lessons, live classes, replays and assignments are all in the app and on the website. If you have a question about in-person sessions, please contact us.

Live classes and replays

Joining a class while it is live, and replays of a class you missed.

When are live classes held?

Each live class has a fixed time set by the course team, the same for every learner. The day’s page shows the time, in your phone’s time zone with IST added if your phone isn’t on India time, and a class reminder arrives before the class starts.

How do I join a live class?

Open the day in the app or on the website and tap “Join live class”. You can join only while the class is live, between its start and end time. Depending on the class, it opens in a meeting app or plays inside Legal Smriti, and joining while it is live records your attendance.

What if I miss a live class?

Watch the replay. If you miss a live class, you can open its replay up to 3 times, and the app always shows how many replays remain before you start one. A replay counts as soon as it starts, and there is no deadline for watching it.

Can I watch the replay of a class I attended?

No. Replays are only for a class you missed. Once you have attended a class live, the day moves on to its assignment.

Can I download class videos?

No. Replays play only in the app or on the website, and course videos can’t be downloaded.

What happens if a live class is cancelled?

The day shows that the class was cancelled, and it is updated if the class is rescheduled. The day’s assignment opens straight away.

Assignments and evaluation

The day’s assignment, your reviewer’s marks and feedback, and completing a day.

When does the day’s assignment open?

After you attend the live class or start its replay. If the day has no live class, the assignment opens as soon as the day opens.

How do I submit an assignment?

Answer every question (each answer can be up to 20,000 characters) and submit. Each assignment is submitted once, and until you submit, your draft is kept on your device.

Can I edit an assignment after submitting it?

No. A submitted assignment can’t be edited, so review your answers before you submit. Your reviewer will share marks and suggestions once the review is ready.

Who reviews my assignment, and what do I get back?

A reviewer reads your answers and publishes your marks, a written summary and up to 10 suggestions. Reviews are blind: the reviewer’s screen shows your submission ID and category, not your name.

How will I know when my feedback is ready?

You get a notification when your feedback is ready. Until then, My assignments shows each submission as Submitted, then Under review, then Reviewed.

When is a day complete?

When you have read your review and tap “Complete Day” to acknowledge it. Your progress and learning streak then update. New days keep opening on the calendar either way.

Will I see other learners’ marks or a ranking?

No. There are no rankings or leaderboards: you see only your own marks and progress.

Payments and refunds

Course fees, when your access begins, and refunds.

How much does each course cost?

Prices include applicable taxes. Each fee is a one-time payment.

Is a course fee a subscription?

No. Each course fee is a one-time payment: it isn’t a subscription, and there are no recurring charges. Optional extras may also be offered in the app.

When does my access to a paid course begin?

Access to a paid course begins once your payment is confirmed, and Day 1 opens that day. You get a “Payment confirmed” notification, and while a payment is still being verified, the app shows its status until it is confirmed.

How do I pay for a course?

Registration is free, and access to a paid course begins once your payment is confirmed. Payment options are being finalised; if you have a question about paying for a course, please contact us.

What if my payment isn’t confirmed?

The app shows the payment’s status and keeps checking. If money was deducted and the payment isn’t confirmed, it will be confirmed or refunded by your bank or payment provider. For any question about a payment, contact us.

Will I get an invoice?

Invoice and GST details are being finalised. If you need a record of a payment, please contact us.

Refunds and cancellations

Can I cancel a course and get a refund?

Refund and cancellation terms are being finalised; please contact us before you pay if you have a question.

The Refund and Cancellation Policy will set out the terms.

Can I change my course after paying?

No. A payment unlocks only the course it was made for, and a course can’t be changed after payment. If you aren’t sure which course suits you, contact us before you pay.

Certificates

Your completion certificate and study material, both posted to you.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. Every paid course includes a completion certificate. When you have completed every day of the course, your certificate is printed and posted to the address in your profile.

How can I follow my certificate?

On your Profile. It shows the certificate as being prepared, then dispatched, with the date and a tracking reference once it has been posted.

Can I change the address my certificate is posted to?

Yes. You can update your postal address at any time from Edit profile; make sure it is correct before your certificate is dispatched.

Does Drafting Assistance include a certificate?

No. Drafting Assistance is free and has no fixed length: new days are added as they are published, so it has no completion point and no certificate.

Is there a digital certificate?

Your completion certificate is the printed one posted to you. Where the digital certificate feature is available, the Legal Smriti team can also issue a digital certificate in the app, with a link anyone can use to check it. Some features are introduced gradually; the app's Explore section shows what is available on your account.

What is the certificate for?

It records that you have completed a Legal Smriti course. If you have a question about how you can use it, please contact us.

Where is my study material sent?

To the postal address in your profile. You can update it at any time from Edit profile.

Android app and website

One account in the app and in your browser, notifications and your account.

Can I learn in the app and on the website?

Yes. Learn in the Legal Smriti Android app or on the website with one account: your courses and progress are shared, so you can move between them at any time.

How do I get the Android app?

The download section of How It Works shows where to get it. The app needs Android 8.0 or later. On an iPhone, an iPad or a computer, learn on the website.

Which notifications will I get?

Class reminders, feedback ready, payment confirmed and new days. You can switch each kind on or off in Profile, under Notification settings.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

Choose “Forgot password?” on the sign-in screen and enter your email address. We email you a 6-digit code, valid for 10 minutes, to set a new password.

How do I delete my account?

In the app or on the website, open Profile, choose Delete account and confirm with your password. Deletion is immediate and can’t be undone, and your course access ends.

Your profile, contact details, postal address, assignment answers, notes and practice data are deleted. Records of your enrolments, payments, progress, reviews and dispatches are kept in anonymised form.

If you have a question about a payment, contact us before you delete your account.

How is my personal data protected?

Passwords are never stored in readable form, and your contact details, postal address and assignment answers are encrypted in our database. Staff see only what their role allows, and their views of personal data are recorded. The Privacy Policy explains what we collect and why.

For advocates

What the platform offers advocates, and what it does not.

Which courses suit advocates?

Every course is open to you. The Advocate's Learning Centre is designed for final-year LL.B. students, fresh law graduates, and newly enrolled and junior advocates, and Drafting Assistance is free. See For Advocates for more.

What do I need to register as an advocate?

Choose Advocate when you register and give the name of your Bar Association. Your enrolment ID, as issued by your State Bar Council, is optional. Your category can’t be changed later, but it doesn’t limit which courses you can take.

What are drafting templates?

A library of drafting templates, such as affidavits, published by the Legal Smriti team as PDF or Word files. Every account can unlock up to ${site.policies.templatesFreeQuota} templates free of charge (the current allowance), and a template you have unlocked stays free to open again. You find them under Drafting templates in the app and on the website.

What is Drafting Assistance?

A free course in legal drafting fundamentals for every registered learner, with daily lessons, daily assignments and reviewer feedback. Its length isn’t fixed: new days are added as they are published. See Drafting Assistance.
